PRINTMAKING BY CAROLINE BAILEY
‘Monotype is a printing method which results in only one print. There are many different ways of making a monotype. I make them from a printing plate, and I like to use multiple printings to build up the image.
It is also possible to work further on the plate after printing to produce another different print related to the first one. These are generally called monoprints and can run to several different but related prints.
My printmaking is closely related to my painting, but building up the image with several printings is a different way of bringing about a unique result.’
